San Antonio, Texas

My life goal is to travel everywhere and see everything. I know that is kind of a broad statement and I know it’s not possible to see EVERYTHING, but so far that is my goal. Moving to Texas was just the start. My husband will be done with school in spring 2017 and then we plan on moving on to the next place. While we are in Texas I want to be able to take road trips to places close by. The first place I thought of was San Antoino. I heard some people talk about it at work and when I looked it up I was sold when I saw the Riverwalk. Since we both have flexible work schedules we decided to go during the week when there would be less traffic. I was a little nervous at first to do something during the week because some stuff may only be done on the weekend but we actually didn’t miss much (that I know of).

We decided to leave early Tuesday morning. We used Rover.com to find someone to babysit Sequoia in the San Antonio area. She always loves her car rides.

We dropped her off around 11 and headed over to the Natural Bridge Caves. It was cool but I wish you did not have to go with a large group and could just walk through it. There were parts where I felt like I was just staring at the persons butt in front of me rather than taking in the experience of the cave.

I did not have much planned for the rest of the evening so we found a place to eat that was connected to the mall off the river walk. I did not want to walk through the river walk yet because that was planned for the next day and I did not want to spoil anything. There was an Imax theater connected to the mall that we went and watched Captain America in 3D.

The next day we started off by visiting the Alamo. I have never been a big history person because just learning about it from books is not very interesting, but seeing it is a little more entertaining. There was a movie that they showed there that had a short history lesson attached to it that taught us about the Alamo and a little history on Texas.

Next we headed over to the river walk to get a boat tour. Half way through the trip we had an unexpected visitor drop some gifts for us. So I spent a good chunk of the trip cleaning myself off with wet wipes that someone thankfully had. Other than that it was pretty lol.

After going back to the hotel and showering, we went to have lunch at the hard rock café off of the river walk. Then we did a walking tour around the Riverwalk as well since it was so pretty, because why not.

Next we headed over to Tower of Americas. I was not sure if I wanted to do this one. I work on the 16th floor at my hospital so seeing a high view of a city is nothing new to me. However the elevators had a glass wall so you watched yourself get higher and higher. I got a little nervous after that. The ride back down was a lot more relieving. When we got to the top there was a deck area where you were basically outside but there were bars to hold you in. Included with our ticket for the towers was a 4D movie experience on facts about Texas such as rodeos, the great plains, and cities. We had 3D glasses on while we sat on seats that moved and there was other special effects such as a bull snorting on us and we got a little spray in the face and a snake that moved behind our legs.

Those are the main points of our trip. I would go again with a group of people since there was some shows and fairs and stuff that are only done on the weekend but I am glad we went during the week when it was less crowded.

101 things to do in 1001 days: Go on a road trip somewhere I have never been
